Types of RV Camping Available in Bryce Canyon Country

Before you explore the campgrounds and RV parks below, here’s a quick look at the main types of rv camping you’ll find throughout Bryce Canyon Country:

Private RV Parks

Private RV parks offer the most comfort and convenience, providing features such as hookups, showers, WiFi, and other amenities. Many of these parks are open year-round.

National Park Campgrounds

National park campgrounds are located inside Bryce Canyon National Park and provide unmatched access to viewpoints and trails. These campgrounds are basic, operate seasonally, and do not offer hookups.

National Forest Campgrounds

National forest campgrounds provide a rustic experience with shaded sites set among pine forests near lakes and meadows. Amenities vary by location, and most sites have limited or no hookups.

State Park Campgrounds

State park campgrounds, such as those in Kodachrome Basin and Escalante Petrified Forest State Parks, offer reservable sites, restroom facilities, and direct access to scenic trails and viewpoints.

Dispersed & Primitive Camping

While dispersed and primitive camping is permitted on some BLM and national forest lands, these areas are extremely rugged and lack all services, facilities, and conveniences. Conditions can be challenging and require significant experience, advanced preparation, and full self-sufficiency. For most visitors, these sites are not recommended. Visitors should ensure they are camping on public BLM or national forest land and not on private property. If you do choose this option, please be fully prepared and follow all Leave No Trace practices.

Bryce Canyon City

The closest basecamp to Bryce Canyon National Park, ideal for visitors who want quick park access, shuttle service, and convenient amenities just minutes from major viewpoints and trails.

Tropic & Cannonville

Two small towns along Scenic Byway 12 that offer easy access to Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome Basin, and family-friendly dining and services. A great choice for a quieter stay with nearby conveniences.

Panguitch & Panguitch Lake

Panguitch offers historic small-town charm and year-round RV options. Nearby Panguitch Lake provides a cooler, high-elevation setting with forested surroundings and excellent fishing. It’s the perfect area for travelers seeking a mountain escape.

Escalante & Boulder

A more scenic and remote-feeling area known for dramatic landscapes, slot canyon hikes, and backroad adventures in Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument.

Hatch & Mammoth Creek

Peaceful, less-traveled areas between Panguitch and Bryce Canyon, surrounded by forest and meadows. Great for visitors who prefer a quieter atmosphere with easy access to both the national forest and Scenic Byway 12.

Antimony & Ticaboo

More out-of-the-way destinations suited for exploring reservoirs, state parks, and the more rugged corners of southern Utah, including routes toward Lake Powell.

How to Choose the Right Campground

Every area offers something a little different. Consider the following as you plan:

  • Proximity to Bryce Canyon: Areas closest to the park entrance offer the quickest access.

  • Amenities: Private RV parks are the best choice if you need hookups, showers, or WiFi.

  • Climate: Higher-elevation areas stay cooler in summer.

  • Water Access: For lakeside views or fishing, look for campgrounds near major reservoirs.
  • Winter Availability: Some private RV parks remain open year-round.
