Bryce Canyon Airport
The Bryce Canyon Airport, located just four miles north of Bryce Canyon National Park, is a key access point for the region. This single-runway airport, at 7,586 feet elevation, offers scenic aerial views. Bryce Canyon Helicopters is the primary operator, providing tours over numerous national parks and monuments, including the Grand Canyon.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978, the airport retains its original 1936 log hangar, built by the Works Progress Administration. While typically handling small aircraft, its 7,400-foot runway can accommodate larger planes, as demonstrated by the safe emergency landing of American Airlines flight 2821 in 2000, saving 75 lives. For 75 years, Bryce Canyon Airport has significantly boosted local tourism.
