Utah Area National Parks
Let the Garfield County Travel Council help plan your itinerary for your Utah national parks vacation
If you want to take the scenic vacation of a lifetime, visit Utah national parks. Each park varies dramatically in its landscape, from Zion’s towering monoliths, to Bryce Canyon’s display of countless hoodoos, to Capitol Reef’s sandstone domes and Waterpocket Fold, a ripple in the earth’s crust caused by an ancient earthquake. All of the national parks feature trails of varied lengths appropriate for every level of hiker, whether you prefer a short, easy stroll or a steep, strenuous ascent to an amazing viewpoint.
Panguitch is a perfect base camp for trips to Utah national parks. Bryce Canyon is only 24 miles away. Bryce Canyon is a series of natural amphitheaters that display rock pinnacles, spires, arches and fins in every shape, size and color. The park’s high elevation makes it an excellent place to escape hot summer temperatures. It also boasts one of the clearest night skies in the nation and hosts numerous stargazing events throughout the year. On your way to Bryce Canyon from Panguitch, you will pass through Red Canyon along Scenic Byway 12, Utah’s only All-American Road. Red Canyon primes you for your Bryce Canyon experience, displaying rock formations similar to those you will see in the park. Zion National Park canyon is 75 miles southwest of Panguitch while Capitol Reef lies 115 miles northeast.
